Stevenage town centre investigation underway after man assaulted

Part of Stevenage town centre is currently cordoned off from public access after a 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault.

An area next to the bus station and outside Mecca Bingo in Danestrete has been taped off by police following an ‘altercation’ that took place at around 8pm last night.

It is alleged that a man in his 20s was assaulted, and he is currently in hospital receiving treatment for a broken jaw.

Detectives are currently investigating the incident and the cordoned off area.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any other information about what happened should contact the Stevenage Local Crime Unit via 101.
