A thief from Stevenage has pleaded guilty to seven offences relating to a series of thefts from cars in the town.

James Sullivan, of Grace Way, was arrested last Saturday in Colwyn Close on suspicion of motor vehicle interference and going equipped to steal.

The 35-year-old was subsequently charged with four counts of interfering with motor vehicles and two counts of theft from cars – relating to offences in Fairview Road on April 21 and Trent Close on April 25 – as well as possessing cannabis.

He pleaded guilty to all the charges at Hatfield Remand Court on Monday, with chairman of the bench Stuart Jack adjourning the case for sentencing at Stevenage Magistrates’ Court on May 21.

Sullivan was remanded in custody.
