A 17-year-old singer-songwriter is set to release her debut single later this month.

Diamanda Tarditi, who lives in Stevenage, first began singing when she was eight years old and is releasing her RnB single, Waiting, on June 29, which has been produced by Alpha Bravo Studios and will be available on major platforms including Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube.

Diamanda, a pupil at The John Henry Newman School in Stevenage, said: “The single is inspired by how women are often mistreated in relationships in society today. I have witnessed first-hand the damage it does to the mental health of young women.

“Having seen several friends who had been left with the repercussions of their toxic relationships, I felt it was my duty to shine a light on it through my lyrics.

“As a singer-songwriter, I find inspiration in everything, whether it be life events or my own experiences, which makes writing songs generally easy.”

Last year, Diamanda performed at a fundraising concert for the people affected by London’s Grenfell Tower fire in June.

She said: “Seeing posts online asking for donations for the survivors who were left homeless, my mum and I quickly drove to London with bags of our donations the day after the fire.

“We met some amazing people and felt it in our hearts to be able to offer as much help as we could, so we began going almost every weekend to the area to attend the silent march and other events.

“We formed close bonds with people in the community and they feel like a second family.

“I continue to attend the silent march on the 14th of every month and I’ve had the opportunity to perform at various Grenfell community events.”

Diamanda, who has also performed at Stevenage’s Gordon Craig Theatre, recently received an award from the Stevenage Arts Guild which recognises her talent and will help to pay for singing lessons.

She said: “My plans for the future include furthering my education at university, where I’ll be studying music production and sound engineering.

“I will hopefully gain the knowledge and experience to get into the music industry and work in a studio, releasing my own music alongside performing.

“I’m really aiming to change the world with my music.”
