Brett Williams could leave Stevenage in the next week after ‘five or six clubs’ show an interest in signing him.

Torquay United were said to be interested in acquiring the striker, and asked today whether there was any truth in the story Boro boss Teddy Sheringham said clubs have been in contact about the forward.

Williams signed from Aldershot Town in the summer and has scored twice in nine appearances for Stevenage. He has just returned from a loan spell at Forest Green Rovers.

Sheringham said: “There’s probably five or six clubs that are interested in taking Brett, all in the Conference.

“There will probably be something done this week the way the phone has been going.”
