Jon Ashton and Jennison Myrie-Williams join others on the treatment table

STEVENAGE’S injury problems are mounting up ahead of this weekend’s visit of Scunthorpe United.

Chris Beardsley (back) and Darius Charles were both injured last week and joined John Mousinho (hamstring) and Don Cowan on the treatment table ahead of last Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Carlisle. During the match at Brunton Park both Jennison Myrie-Williams (hamstring) and Jon Ashton (a knock) had to be taken off as precautions.

Speaking about his missing players after Saturday’s match Boro boss Graham Westley said: “Well Jenn, to be fair to him, tweaked his hammy towards the end of the first half so it was an enforced change...[and] Ash had a little injury that he had at half time so when it came round to replacing somebody fairly early on in the [second] half he was the obvious candidate.

“There are some big players that missed out. Darius has been central to what we’ve done and he took a knock in the week. We played a game at the ground and one of the youth team lads, keen and eager, did him a little bit of damage. That sort of thing happens but it’s not about the players who aren’t available, ever. It’s all about the ones who are available.”
