Stevenage’s bid to boost their squad ahead of the new season has seen boss Darren Sarll run the rule over a number of trialists.

Former Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder George Cole and ex-Woking and Brentford attacker Moses Emmanuel, who left Bromley in the summer, are just two of the players that the club has put through their paces in recent games.

Both players featured against Watford last Thursday, while the latter scored against Bishop’s Stortford in a 6-0 win at the weekend.

The club are also in talks with former Reading and Watford midfielder Jobi McAnuff about joining the club.

The 34-year-old, who has played in the Premier League, is looking for a new club having left Leyton Orient in the summer.
