A road sign has had to be manually rewritten after a street name was misspelt – making it look “even worse”.

Work started on Monday in Mobbsbury Way in Stevenage to widen the junction with Fairlands Way but a nearby diversion sign referred to ‘Moddsbury Way’.

It was then changed by hand to better resemble the correct spelling.

Stevenage resident Jackie Tyler said: “The sign has been altered by hand to change the Ds to Bs and it now looks even worse.”

The roadworks, being carried out by Hope and Clay (Construction) Ltd, are expected to take eight weeks and once complete will mean vehicles can turn left and right in separate lanes.
