A primary school celebrated its 60th anniversary last week with a reunion attended by more than 200 people.

Four former headteachers as well as old students turned out for the celebrations at Broom Barns Community Primary School in Stevenage.

Current pupils also got to enjoy the festivities, which included a balloon race, the unveiling of a commemorative rock garden and talks from successful alumni.

Headteacher Tina Jarman said: “It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the school and bring the old and new students together.

“The former students got to see the school in action and understand what we were doing today. I think the current pupils really enjoyed it and got to appreciate just how many people had attended this great school before them.”
