MOTORISTS driving in the SG postcode are among the top five most likely in the UK to collide with a tree, research has found.
The study by car insurance company Admiral has found that those driving in the area are the fifth mostly likely to have a crash involving a tree, behind only Tonbridge, Redhill, Aberdeen and Guildford.
The results were compiled after Admiral looked into 1.3 million insurance claims made over the last five years to see if any patterns emerged.
London boroughs featured prominently for rear end crashes and collisions involving parked cars, while motorists in the west of England are most likely to collide on a narrow road.
Admiral’s acting managing director Dave Halliday said: “The leafy scenery of the Home Counties may explain the higher frequency of accidents involving trees with motorists who live there, just as the stop-start nature of traffic in Greater London may explain the rear-end bumps.”
