A Stevenage poker player walked away from a tournament with more than £5,000 last weekend.
Steven Moss, who plays at the Royal Oak pub in Walkern Road, won the Hi5 National Pub Poker Grand Final at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena Casino – beating nearly 160 other players.
With a hefty prize pool of £25,000, Steven endured a whopping 18 hours at the table to take home £5,586 and the winners trophy.
Before even reaching the final, he had to take on thousands of players from across the UK – making his achievement all the more impressive.
Steven won his pub league to qualify for one of 16 semi finals. Each semi-final had 120 players, a prize pool of £2,000 and just 10 grand final qualification spots up for grabs.
