A PENSIONER was robbed by a man who then fled the scene in his car.
The pensioner, a woman in her 80s, was left with injuries to her head after the incident in Ashdown Road, Stevenage, on Saturday afternoon.
Police say she was being watched by a man as she walked up the road.
The woman’s handbag was taken at about 1pm and she was taken to Lister Hospital by paramedics. She has since been released.
Police closed the Ashdown Road for two hours at the junction with Broadwater Crescent and Brook Drive.
A man from Stevenage has been arrested in connection with the incident and bailed by police.
