A paedophile from Stevenage will be sentenced by a crown court judge after he admitted possessing more than 2,000 indecent images of children.

Andrew Pickett, of St Davids Close, pleaded guilty to four offences relating to images of children when he appeared before Stevenage magistrates on Wednesday.

The 33-year-old also admitted possession of extreme pornography involving dogs and horses.

The illegal images were discovered on July 17 last year.

One was deemed a prohibited image of a child – considered the most serious – with the other 2,091 divided beteen category A, B and C indecent images of children, with A being the most serious.

There were 256 category A, 385 category B and 1,450 category C images, with each category listed as a separate offence in court.

Pickett must sign the Sex Offenders Register, and has been committed for sentence at Cambridge Crown Court on May 24.

He has been bailed in the meantime on the condition that he does not use any software allowing him to share files or manipulate or delete his internet history, view any online pornography whatsoever, or prevent the police from examining his devices at any time.

His bail conditions also prohibit him from having any unsupervised contact with children under 16, and forbid him to do any work bringing him into contact with under-18s.
