Muslim leaders in Stevenage have condemned the murder of British aid worker and taxi driver Alan Henning.
The local branch of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association UK has spoken out after the dad of two from Salford was beheaded by ISIS militants.
He was kidnapped by the Islamic State while on an aid mission in Syria last December.
President of the Stevenage Muslim association Sagheer Ahmed said: “Alan was a man who gave his time to help others displaced by war. A noble act to save lives, despite knowing the danger to his life. His murder is heartbreaking and utterly deplorable.
“Our revulsion is compounded by the fact that this evil is perpetrated under the name of faith.
“The evil that ISIS perpetrates is the antithesis of all faiths. Muslims stand shoulder to shoulder with all others in an alliance of humanity to condemn this horrific act and this callous extremist group.”
The national president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community UK Rafiq Hayat added: “Our hearts go out to the family of Alan Henning. May God grant Alan peace and comfort his family during this difficult time.”
