RUMOURS that MP for Stevenage, Barbara Follett, is planning to step down as an MP have hit the headlines this morning (Thursday).
A Labour insider has reportedly leaked to a national newspaper that the committee selecting candidates for the general election has marked the Stevenage seat as 'vacant', to be filled by a new candidate.
Mrs Follett, who won the Stevenage seat in 1997, was unavailable for comment, and her constituency office was unable to confirm if the rumours are true.
