STEVENAGE mayor Simon Speller and the town's MP Barbara Follett helped cut the ribbon at the ceremony to mark the completion of a major refurbishment project at a company with global interests.

Du Pont, which has been in Stevenage since 1980 and employs 400 people in its sales, marketing and training division, currently has sites in 70 countries.

Helping in the ceremony on Monday was company president Ian Hudson who led guests on a tour of the complex to see some of the products Du Pont produces, including shells for racing cars.

After the reception site manager Mike Taylor presented a cheque to Lonsdale School on behalf of the Du Pont community fund project.
