Police officers have thanked the parents of three Stevenage schoolgirls – arrested yesterday on suspicion of causing unnecessary suffering to two kittens – for their co-operation after interviews were carried out with the girls.
Two 14-year-old girls and a 13-year-old girl were taken into custody yesterday after being arrested under Section 41 of the Animal Welfare Act.
In a video originally posted on messaging app Snapchat, two girls can been seen throwing the kittens, one of which lands on the floor and doesn’t move before the video cuts.
In another video, they can be seen positioning the kittens so it appears that they are performing a lewd act.
A spokeswoman for Herts police said today: “The girls have now been interviewed and continue to work with police while the investigation continues.
“Officers are extremely grateful for the co-operation they received from the parents of the girls, the school and the RSPCA.”
The kittens will remain at a vets while a foster home is arranged.
As a criminal investigation is under way, the Comet will not be publishing the videos and legally cannot identify the suspects as they are under 18 – anyone that does so is breaking the law.
