There are only five places in Britain where homes sell faster than Stevenage a new study has revealed.

The report produced by online estate agent Rightmove.co.uk and released yesterday, says in January 2016 it took an average 31 days to sell a home in Stevenage. This compares to 56 days in January last year. It also puts the average asking price of a house in Stevenage at £280,691.

Explaining the popularity of commuter destinations like Stevenage, Kevin Shaw from Leaders estate agents said: “As London prices continue to rise, many people choose to add to their commute rather than their mortgage.”

The study lists the fastest selling place in Britain as Dartford, with an average 16 days to sell in January 2016. The highest asking price was in Watford at £433,679 and the lowest asking price in January 2016 was Scunthorpe in Lincolnshire at £118,052.
