People challenged their senses at a charity fun run on Saturday, wading through foam and eating pick ‘n’ mix sweets along the 5km course.

Stevenage’s Fairlands Valley Park was one of just four locations nationally chosen for the Use Your Senses event, launched by UK charity Guide Dogs this year to raise awareness and funds.

Around the course there were Sense Stations, where those taking part had to run into a sea of scented bubbles, wade through foam, eat pick ‘n’ mix, listen to drummers from Letchworth and run through coloured powder.

The event, which was open to all ages and even saw tiny tots taking part, was opened by Stevenage resident Sean Dilley, who was born partially sighted and has been blind for 20 years. He said: “There were a couple of hundred people who took part and it went very well. It has raised a lot of awareness for the charity locally.”
