Stevenage firefighters rushed to a reported bedroom fire in the early hours of this morning.

Both Stevenage engines were mobilised to the home in Six Hills Way at 3am, after a small fire was reported in a bedroom.

The fire was out when they arrived. Crews investigated the cause of the fire, made sure it was out and ensured the area was safe.

No injuries were reported.

Minutes later, Hitchin firefighters rushed to Gunnels Wood Road in Stevenage after an alarm activation – but this was found to have been a false alarm.
