STEVENAGE FC has banned a 24-year-old man from the Lamex Stadium for life after a pitch invasion following the FA Cup tie against Newcastle United, which resulted in a Stevenage player being assaulted.

A statement on the football club’s website said: “The club has reserved its right to refuse entry to any person or persons and would like to reiterate that any fan caught invading the pitch during or at the end of a game will be banned from the Lamex Stadium.”

*Robert Fitzgerald, 24, of Stevenage, was charged on January 11 with common assault and going onto a playing area at a designated football match contrary to the Football Offences Act.

He has been bailed to appear before Stevenage Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, January 26.
