The council is currently Labour-controlled, with Labour holding 30 seats, Conservative five, Liberal Democrats three, and UKIP one.
Among those standing is council leader Sharon Taylor, who is hoping for re-election to the Symonds Green seat. She is also seeking election as Stevenage MP.
