Chairman Shirley Watts welcomed members to the meeting. Notice was given that several new committee members will be required, including Chairman and Secretary at the AGM in March. Members voted in favour of us remaining part of North Herts and Beds Federation. The 2007 subscription, due in February, will be £23. Mary Nudds read out a Telegraph letter to the editor from our National Chairman Pamela Pollock regretting the need for the Post Office closures mirroring the thoughts of many members. Linda Crawford is organising a silent auction to follow the AGM. Pat Bailey won the raffle, Joyce Blackmore read a piece entitled The Value of Old Age. In the absence of a speaker a Beetle Drive was organised, Dawn Morris was the ultimate winner. Diary dates March 10 Women's International Day, Stevenage College, July 18 National Union Meeting, Royal Glasgow Concert Hall. The next meeting at the Shephall Centre is on February 1 at 7.30pm when Richard Harbour talks about Antarctic 40 years ago, all visitors welcome.
