Chairman Shirley Watts welcomed members to the July meeting, which began with an Extraordinary General Meeting, chaired by Secretary Rickie Hanson, to consider the new constitution proposed by headquarters and any changes to our standing orders. It was agreed that the new constitution was more modern in outlook and there was no reason to dispute it. A vote for acceptance was requested and carried. Two long standing members have recently died - Jo Nelson in May and Gina Biggs in June and are fondly remembered. Kathleen Clavey gave a resume of the meeting in Harrogate on July 4. Diary dates - July 26 Beth Chatto Gardens, 9am at Shephall Centre, August 2 Quiz at Hitchin, August 3 Outing to Papillon Restaurant, August 23 Charity Tea at Shephall Centre, wrapped parcels for Doreen's bran tub please. September 3 - Broadwater Day. Entry forms for the Arts and Crafts Festival in October should have been posted by end of July, the next meeting is at 7.30pm on Thursday, September 7 when Kevin Smith gives a talk on Safety in the Home, an auction will be held, all visitors welcome.
