Bins in Stevenage will be collected an hour early starting tomorrow, to help protect workers from prolonged exposure to the heat.

Stevenage Borough Council announced today that it has been looking for ways to protect the waste workers amid the current scorching conditions.

The council said: “We have taken the decision, like lots of councils nationwide, to let our refuse and recycling crews start earlier, so that they can avoid the high temperatures in the afternoon.

“This will begin tomorrow, so please ensure that your bins and boxes are put out the night before or by 6am on the due day.

“Please share this to ensure it reaches as many Stevenage residents as possible. Please also take a moment to tell your neighbours, friends or family members that may not have social media.”
