REACHING for the stars and dreaming about flying high are powerful motivators to spur us on both in business and in our careers.

But have you ever wondered about whether winners are born or bred? And what sort of things influence them to always push for more and get precisely what they want?

Their positive, go-ahead, go-getting attitude could be down to their genes, in part, or the way that they were brought up. Or perhaps it has something to do with the school they went to and what their classmates were like?

Or maybe, just maybe, their success and ability to shine was written in the stars, pre-destined before they were even born.

But before you discard this way-out theory as a pile of useless mumbo-jumbo, consider the very latest up-to-the-minute survey of new businesses by DHL logistics.

According to the company, your zodiac sign could actually affect the way you approach new ventures and possibly even spell out how you might fare if you took the plunge and set up your very own business.

For example, innovative, creative Aquarians are excellent self-starters, with over half (54 per cent) of those questioned starting up their own business between the ages of 20 and 30.

By contrast, renowned perfectionists Virgos take the longest to go it alone, with a 20 per cent only getting round to embarking on their own commercial ventures when they hit their 50s.

Sagittarians and Leos are full of self-belief and confidence in their own abilities and future, as proven by the 45 and 39 per cent respectively who have their sights set firmly on becoming millionaires in the next five years.

Astrologer Tina Thompson said: "Sagittarius is ruled by the largest planet in our solar system and this survey confirms that they certainly think big!

"This sign is renowned for its good fortune, but perhaps they're lucky for the simple reason that they believe in luck.

"If life vindicates our beliefs, we might all benefit from embodying more Sagittarius faith and optimism."

Capricorns, on the other hand, seem to be much more pragmatic about their destiny and what to expect in years to come - just 13 per cent believe they are millionaires in the making.

This might seem a little odd though, in light of the fact that nearly a fifth of Capricorns (19 per cent) cite personal wealth as their biggest motivation to succeed.

Considerate Pisceans say security for their family is what spurs them on (71 per cent), while almost half of Aquarians (47 per cent) say being in control of their own fate is encouragement enough.

Suzy Elliot, DHL marketing director, said: "It seems today's entrepreneurs are governed not only by their expertise but by their astrological traits too.

"It certainly provides an interesting insight into the minds of some of our greatest business figures."

So what else could be in the stars and could they really help us shine, shine, shine?
