STACY Long has signed a one-year contract with Stevenage Boro after coming through a medical at the club this afternoon.
Boro beat off competition from several other Blue Square Premier clubs for the 24-year-old's signature and becomes manager Graham Westley's fifth summer signing.
Long signs on a free transfer having been released by Ebbsfleet United at the end of last season with the Kent club's financial difficulties making it impossible for them to hold on to a midfielder, who many consider to be one of the best outside the Football League.
However, Long will have to fight for a starting place next term as Westley establishes the kind of competition for places necessary for any promotion push.
The likes of David Bridges, Michael Bostwick, Joel Byrom and Darren Murphy will all be vying for place in central midfield alongside Long, who can also operate on either flank if required.
