A ROAD sign that has been incorrectly spelt has been flagged up by a motorist three-and-a-half years after it was put up.
Chris Hall, 50, was driving along Stotfold Road, Letchworth GC, when he noticed the sign directing people to Wilbury Hills Picnic area has been spelt wrongly – reading Willbury rather than Wilbury.
Mr Hall said: “I have driven past the sign on many occasions, obviously without taking too much notice. But I noticed the very silly spelling mistake the other day. It made me laugh that people in authority made such a mistake.”
A spokesman for Herts County Council said: “We don’t have specific information on how long the signage to Wilbury Hill Picnic Area has been in place but it is at least three and a half years and in that time we have not received any complaints about it. Residents are encouraged to report any highway problems to us on www.hertsdirect.org/highwayfaults or 0300 123 4047.”
