Special constables will be on hand to talk about anti-social behaviour in Stevenage today (Saturday), as well as on special patrols over the weekend in North Herts.

Volunteer officers will be at the clock tower in Stevenage town centre from 9.30am to 4.30pm.

A police spokesman said: “Everyone is welcome to come along and discuss any issues they may have in their neighbourhood – or just come along to meet the officers.

“If you are interested in becoming a special constable, officers will also be on hand to discuss recruitment.”

Specials will also be out in force across North Herts as part of National Specials Weekend. They will be on patrol on the Grange estate in Letchworth as well as Bancroft Park, Pinehill Playing fields and Ransom’s Rec in Hitchin.

The event is aimed at raising the profile of the special constabulary and highlight the work volunteer police officers do in the community.
