NOISY thieves who stole a ticket machine from St Mary's Square car park in Hitchin in the early hours of the morning are being hunted by police.
Officers have just released details of the incident which happened at around 2.30am last Thursday.
Inspector Simon Tabert from the Hitchin Neighbourhood Team said: "The suspects for this offence have not been particularly bothered about how much noise they made, as they have used an angle grinder to remove the padlock from the machine prior to stealing the coins.
"It would have taken several minutes to cut through the lock, and would have generated sparks and lots of noise, which in the early hours of the morning would have carried a long way and attracted attention.
"I feel sure that somebody somewhere would have noticed this and I would urge anyone with any information to ring 0845 3300 222.
