Saints turn down Sky Sports’ approach to have their Capital One Cup game with Stevenage shown live on TV
Stevenage have missed out on a cash windfall after Southampton turned down the chance for the two clubs’ Capital One Cup tie next Tuesday (August 28) to be screened on Sky Sports.
Sky picked the round two match for live coverage, which would have resulted in a six-figure television fee for both clubs, but the game would have been moved to a Thursday evening.
Yet, because the Saints have a match live on television on Sunday against Manchester United they were not willing to reschedule the match and as such the game will not take place live on television.
This is despite the Football League appealing to the Premier League in an attempt to get the game on TV.
