Letchworth’s Christian Bookshop was packed with well-wishers as Songs of Praise presenter Pam Rhodes led its 50th birthday celebrations on Saturday, and then stayed around to chat and sign books.
Singing of Amazing Grace was led by saxophonist Malcolm Corden who has a long association with the Leys Avenue shop.
The Rev Simon Moore of Letchworth’s St Paul’s Church spoke of the shop as a welcoming place where the leaders of the local churches can come together each week to pray for the town and one another’s churches.
The church was first established in Hitchin and moved to Letchworth more than two decades ago.
