IF the cold white stuff arrives and blankets the ground, help could be just a phone call away.

A snow patrol has been organised by the Voice of Hitchin Youth group.

"We may have missed the last lot, but if it happens again we're ready," said a spokesman.

"If your drive gets snowed in and you need help digging it out then just phone 01462 435605 and ask for Philip."

Voice is an organisation for young people run by young people, which was formed last year.

The aim of the group is not only to get young people's ideas and views heard but also to act on them. With that in mind, it is in continuous contact with the district council and its Hitchin committee.

Members hope to improve the town for all its residents, especially the youth.

Last month an all-ages event was held at Club 85 after complaints that a lot of music fans could not get in to see their favourite local bands because of age restrictions.

It was seen as a huge success and now an all-ages event is being held every third Saturday of the month.

Other events are being lined up. Among them is a fashion show, console gaming competition, and the chance for people to show off their comedy, acting or musical talent for five minutes in front of a live audience at Hitchin Town Hall.

Anyone aged between 11 and 21 who wants to have their voice heard is welcome to join the group. Email CHRISTIANFRISCH@hotmail.com for more details.
