A week long camp in Holland was just one of many challenges faced by six Scouts from the Henlow/Clifton Scout Group on their route to their Chief Scout Gold Award the top accolade for Scouts.

The six received their certificates, the first in the county signed by new Chief Scout Bear Grylls, at a ceremony last week in front of 45 colleagues, families and friends at their headquarters in Henlow.

They are Jack Brightwell, 14, Chris and Cari Panton, Adam Biggs, Robert Wenham and Thomas Hardy, 13 and the presentations were made by Assistant County Commissioner for Scouts Ken Brooker who said: "I have great admiration for these young people for the way they kept going for over three years and the hard work that went into this achievement. They are a credit to their Scout Group.
