SIX men were injured, three seriously, after the car they were travelling in struck a telegraph pole in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Emergency services were called to Hitchin Road, Arlesey, at 1.59am. Initial reports stated the occupants may possibly be trapped. Several ambulance crews attended the incident from Ampthill, Letchworth, Luton and Royston as well as fire crews and police.
Ambulance service spokesman Gary Sanderson said: "There were six patients in total and three received serious injuries. All were conveyed to the Lister Hospital.
"Ambulance crews worked extremely hard alongside the fire and police services to treat and stabilise the injured. Three of the patients required extensive treatment at the roadside and everyone worked very hard in difficult circumstances.
