Sid – who is best known as the longest serving CBeebies presenter – visited Samuel Lucas JMI School and a Creation Station art class in Hitchin dressed in his superhero cape as part of his UK tour to promote the week.

Organised by the Children’s Activities Association, Children’s Activities Week is a new national fundraising event which has support from Peter Andre, Sid Sloane and a host of other celebrity and sporting ambassadors.

Chantal Craig from Creation Station said: “All of our little explorers at the Creation Station for Hitchin and Letchworth absolutely loved meeting Sid. “We had great fun making big rockets and superhero masks and feel proud to have taken part in Children’s Activities Week.”

The week aims to promote the social, educational, emotional and physical benefits activities for children can bring and to raise as much money as possible for Caudwell Children.

The charity is dedicated to changing the lives of disabled children and to raising awareness of the Children’s Activities Association – which is a not-for-profit organisation that give parents reassurance the classes and activities they are booking for their children are regulated and ensure as many children across the UK have access to clubs, classes and activities in their area.

Rob Burgess, the assistant headteacher at Samuel Lucas JMI, said: “Samuel Lucas JMI were fortunate enough to welcome Sid Sloane on Tuesday.

“We would like to extend our thanks to him for his time and energy.”

Sid has visited a number of locations over the course of the week, including Manchester, Bolton, Luton, Croydon and other places in London.

He said: “It was great to visit Hitchin as part of Children’s Activities Week and spend time with children at Creation Station Art classes and Samuel Lucas School.

“I am a huge fan of the work the Children’s Activities Association do to ensure our children’s services meet a quality assured standard.

“The week has been great fun and raised awareness on the importance of the benefits children’s activities bring as well as funds for a fantastic charity.”
