At the meeting last Friday the September crime and anti-social behaviour figures were circulated and discussed. Weeds once again dominated the meeting as the council had to employ a contractor to clear some of the weeds because the County Council now only clear weeds from the gutters. Councillors were angry that once again residents have to pay twice for work that another authority had relinquished without discussion or notification. There will also be a need for the Town Council to raise the precept in order to cover costs for this work to continue next year and keep the town tidy. The highways department has been contacted regarding clearance of the footpath from Bedford Road to Lucas Way which still needs doing. The bus shelter in Clifton Road is to be replaced. A reply from Anglian Water is awaited regarding the invitation to them to give the council a presentation. Mr Mackin invited as many councillors as possible to join in the Remembrance Parade at the War Memorial on November 12.
