SHARE your memories is the plea from library staff to a town’s residents.

Staff at Letchworth Library will be relauching their community website www.ourletchworth.org.uk on Monday, November 14, as they invite the public to share their photographs and memorabilia.

The event at the library in Broadway will include website demonstrations and the opportunity to scan photos for sharing on the site.

Viv Birch, librarian for Information Services in Stevenage and North Herts, said: “We are always interested in personal memoirs of going to school in the town, working in the town, or involvement with local clubs and societies as they developed in Letchworth.

“In fact if you were involved in any events major or minor that form part of the town’s history we would like to hear from you.”

The event, which will include tea and cakes, takes place between 2pm and 5pm.

The Our Letchworth website forms part of Herts Memories community network, a project which was started in May 2009 and has been funded for the last two years by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Further funding to maintain the websites has been provided by Hertfordshire County Council, with staff from Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies, local libraries and local museums working with volunteers to develop the content.

There are eight further websites within the network, including www.ourstevenage.org.uk

*The Comet will be working in partnership with both Our Letchworth and Our Stevenage, publishing photos from each website for our weekly Look Back in Time feature.
