SEVEN people were rescued by firefighters from a burning block of flats last night (Sunday).
Emergency services received a call shortly after 7pm to a fire in Ripon Road, Stevenage.
Firefighters got three women, two men, and a young girl and boy to safety after a blaze broke out in a ground floor flat of the two-storey builing.
All seven were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene by paramedics before one of the men and the boy were taken to the Lister Hospital in Stevenage for further care.
The fire was declared out just before 8.30pm and a spokesman for the fire service said the cause is being investigated.
