A highly-qualified soccer coach has organised a community soccer project to encourage players of Asian origin to take up the sport – with the backing of one of the world’s biggest clubs.

Bal Singh, who runs football community development programmes across North Herts which aim to tackle the under-representation of Asians in the sport, has teamed up with Italian Serie A giants AC Milan.

Bal said: “I’m honoured as a UEFA A licence coach to be working alongside AC Milan to help launch the FA community development centre, alongside my own centre, Khalsa – which aims to increase the number of Asian women, girls and boys playing football. It’s about using football as a mechanism for groups to integrate within the wider community.

AC Milan coach Simone Zaffenni added: “I was very impressed with the technical session Bal delivered, and I’m very happy to bring the teachings of AC Milan here.”
