JEWELLERY was stolen during a burglary at a house in Hitchin over the weekend.

It happened sometime between Friday morning and Sunday evening in Hampden Road.

Various electrical items, cash and items of jewellery were taken. These included a ladies solid yellow gold necklace and bracelet with cross links design, a yellow gold ring with a single pearl and surrounded by five small diamonds and a pair of men's gold cufflinks, rectangular shape with a jade stone inset and matching tie pin.

Pc Rachel Wells-Burr is investigating. She said: "These items of jewellery all hold sentimental value to the victim and they are obviously very keen to get them back.

"I would like to appeal to anyone who believes they may have been offered these items for sale, or to anyone who believes they witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the area over the weekend, to contact police as soon as possible.

"If you can help, please call police via the non-emergency number 0845 3300222. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
