CAN you give this dog a chance to live?

The white Staffordshire bull terrier was found whimpering at the side of the Hertford Road near the Van Hage Garden Centre in Stevenage on Monday afternoon.

Both its back legs were broken.

The woman who found the dog immediately took it to the Fairlight Veterinary Surgery in Ditchmore Lane.

It was named Petal by veterinary nurse Julie Hayter. The surgery is now appealing through The Comet to find its owner or someone who will give it a home and pay for its treatment to save it from being put to sleep.

"Petal has had surgery before, possibly four or five weeks ago, on one of her hind legs. She has got serious injuries," said Julie.

"We can't say whether the dog was dumped at the side of the road and hit again but she is only 18 months old and deserves to live.

"She is badly injured and we can't do the surgery here but we are giving her painkillers so she is not suffering."

Do you know who Petal belongs to or do you want to save her life and give her a loving home?
