Representatives from Hitchin scouts paid a visit to the town’s fire station to experience a tour and a talk by the firefighters.

The enthralled youngsters from the 12th Hitchin Scout Group visited the site on Newtons Way and learned the procedures the experts carry out in emergencies.

They also squeezed into the cabin of a fire engine, as well as being shown what firefighters wear and how they search for people in the even of a fire.

Sam Hankin from the scouts said: “The feedback from the youngsters was very positive.

“At the end of the evening, two of the cubs made their promises and were invested inside the fire engine with one telling me that they loved going to the fire station and that it was ‘amazing’ getting to see the fire engine and all the equipment!
