A STEVENAGE school has become the first Learning to Learn school in Hertfordshire.

Children at Peartree Spring Infant School were able to demonstrate to assessors that they knew the learning focus of their lessons.

Headteacher Julie Legg said: "Even the very youngest children were able to explain what made them effective learners and how they could improve their performance.

"We are very proud of our children's approach to their learning, and so this latest award is particularly pleasing.

"We are looking forward to lots of new and exciting challenges during the next school year - including the launch of our radio station."

Earlier in the year, the school was said to be "outstanding" by OFSTED inspectors who awarded it top marks in all main areas of provision.
