A SCHOOL has celebrated its 75th anniversary with a reunion.

Pupils from as long ago as 1931 and as recent as 2004 turned up to mark the special day, sharing tales from their years at Kingshott School on the outskirts of Hitchin.

Alan Rowan Robinson, headteacher until his retirement in 1980, was also there and joined past students and teachers as they reminisced about years gone by.

Guests at the reunion got the chance to explore the new Rowan Building, peruse old photos, share memories and swap news.

They then enjoyed a lunch together with current headteacher Paul Ilott who was thrilled with the turn out.

He said: "This is a very fitting way for Kingshott to celebrate its 75th anniversary with over 150 former pupils and teachers getting together to reminisce and to see just how much the school has changed.

"Kingshott is very much looking ahead, with exciting plans for the continued redevelopment of the school, but it is good to be able to pause to celebrate what has been achieved in the past."

The success of the day has left the school's Alumni Association optimistic about future reunions.
