The people of Sandy have the chance to see Roman archaeological discoveries up close this weekend.
An open day will be hosted by AOC Archaeology at the site of Sandy Town Council’s cemetery extension between 10.30am and 3.30pm on Saturday.
Archaeologists will be on hand to explain more, having uncovered some exciting finds including a Roman town wall and skeleton.
The excavation was a condition of the town council’s cemetery extension to avoid breaching planning permission, due to the historic nature of the burial grounds.
The site, where artefacts dating back to the 4th century have been found, is off Stratford Road.
The town council has advised that there is no onsite parking available, but the free town centre car park is within walking distance.
