A stalwart of Sandy community life has been saluted after 25 years of continuous public service.

Councillor Michael Scott has chalked up a quarter of a century as a member of Sandy Town Council.

The occasion was marked in the town council chamber on Monday, when Mr Scott was presented with an award to mark the occasion in recognition of his long service to the town.

Town mayor Councillor Colin Osborne expressed thanks on behalf of the community.

The mayor also recognised the contribution of Mr Scott’s wife Lynda, who has loyally supported him as he has performed his civic duties.

Mr Scott has been involved in numerous projects over his 25 years, and has represented the council and town across Bedfordshire. He also served as Sandy mayor from 1999 to 2001. He is now chair of the policy finance and resources committee, as well as deputy mayor.
