Remember, remember, the fifth of November... but safety was the name of the game in Hitchin town centre last weekend.
The North Herts Community Safety Partnership held a special community reassurance day in Market Place on Saturday.
Police gave crime prevention advice for the winter months, the fire service gave tips about firework safety and the dangers of candles around fancy dress costumes, and North Hertfordshire Homes and North Herts District Council officers gave advice on housing, safety, waste and recycling.
The were also fun activities for the kids, including a colouring competition.
District councillor Tony Hunter said: “We were thrilled to see lots of people picking up tips on the steps we can all take to ensure everyone is kept safe over the Halloween and Bonfire Night celebrations.”
