WITH children now on their summer holidays, safety improvements to reduce congestion near Radburn Primary School in Chatterton, Letchworth GC are due to start on Monday (July 27).
Hertfordshire Highways expect the work to take four weeks, weather permitting.
It is designed to make routes to the school safer for pedestrians and cyclists, as part of the county's Safer Routes to School programme. It will involve:
* Widening part of the school entrance to five metres
* Resurfacing the footways and improving grass verges
* Marking parking bays in the turning head and the parking area near the school entrance
* Upgrading the street lighting near the school
