THE financial winners of an annual race were two charities.
The Comet-sponsored Standalone 10K organised by North Herts Road Runners and held in Letchworth GC every October is a major event attracting hundreds of competitors.
And that success generates money for good causes.
Proceeds from the latest event have now been presented.
Road Runners chairman Karen Dodsworth handed over a £250 cheque to John Bush, trustee of the Garden House Hospice, and Standalone 10K race committee member Richard Harbon gave a cheque for a similar amount to Dawn Fry of the Multiple Sclerosis Trust.
St John Ambulance and Letchworth Army Cadets also received donations for their help and assistance at the event.
