A SPECIAL school is calling for a runner to make a marathon effort for pupils.

Woolgrove Primary School in Letchworth GC, which supports children with learning difficulties, has a guaranteed place in next year's London Marathon donated by race director David Bedford, but they don't yet have a runner to take up the baton.

Headteacher Bridget Walton said: "This is a wonderful opportunity for someone to make a real difference to children who live and go to school in the local community. There may even be someone interested who has a connection to the school in some way and has always had the ambition to run the marathon. Unlike the large charities, we are not asking for a registration fee and will offer support with fundraising as much as possible."

Money raised by the run will be used to create a 'sensory garden' to develop the pupil's imaginations, understanding of the environment and general well-being.

If you are interested in running for the school send your contact details and why you would like to help to 2010 Virgin London Marathon, Woolgrove School, Pryor Way, Letchworth GC, Herts, SG6 2PT by September 22.
